When I hit my lowest point, grappling with severe depression, grief, and early menopause, it took a debilitating illness and a series of difficult circumstances for me to finally wake up. I realized that personal boundaries aren’t just a choice; they’re essential for my psychological and physical survival.
But mere survival is never enough.
I later learned that boundaries are vital for cultivating balance, kindness, and empathy toward yourself. They’re a prerequisite for building healthy relationships with others.

If you’re too stubborn, too tolerant, or too suppressed to wake up early in life, please know you aren’t alone. I’m still working on accepting that truth about myself and learning to forgive my own wounded parts for having been treated so poorly.

Remember, healing isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being brave enough to acknowledge your wounds and build new boundaries to protect your peace.
